The Picture at the Grassroot

In the COVID upsurge during the second wave, the rural areas of India had faced a severe hit. With a sudden hike in cases, the the situation got worse with an absence of immediate adequate treatment. Most people reached out to local doctors and were widely refraining from getting tested because of fear of isolation.

There were many reasons to it:

In many villages people died as they do not get tested when the first symptoms appear

Those patients who have home quarantined themselves do not have an oximeter. Also, local-private medical personnels do not have oximeters, thermometers, or lay aside oxygen cylinders.

During isolation, families and patients in centre faced a difficulty in procuring regular supplies such as fruits

Due to sudden marketplace lockdown, essential supplies like sanitary pads had become difficult to access
